The Solahara desert

8:30 Monday morning and I was sitting in traffic on the 1-2-1 finally on my way to the airport in Dallas. See, i'd been up since 5am and i was set to get to the airport by 7:30 skippin out on all the traffic. But, about 1o miles out, I realized i'd forgotten my phone so I jimmyd back, got it and head out again. Only this time, i realized i hadnt picked up my boarding pass, Perfect!!!!

So i'm sitting in traffic wondering why there's a flashing red light on highway ramp and we, and by this i mean all 200 cars on the highway ramp, have to stop and potentially yield to every vehicle tricklin through on the adjacent road. As always i have NPR playing and heard something that sent me into some mini euphoria -
I'd been asking myself why a guy like Mr. Gates or somebody doesnt pull investors, such as himself, together and launch a gigantuous project to lay state of the art solar panels accross the the 1000's of acres of dessert accross west Texas, Nevada, California and other Desserts in the United states. This will surely provide enuff energy to power the entire country and then some (please DO NOT quote me)!

But here I was listening to a project being planned in the EU in colaboration with Africa to build a bi-continental power grid. This grid would incorporate both solar and wind turbine technology that would generate energy to power both continents and then some. The plan? Make the Sarah dessert one great big solar field and line the southern coastal region of europe with fields of wind turbines. Combined, this would be the single largest power source in history.

I'm not going to call us out. But we in America are "chasing cars!"
Do we have the technology to accomplish something equal or greater? - Yes
Do we have the money to accomplish somethign equal or greater? -... we got credit!
